Contains an excellent consumer-oriented guide to therapeutic resources.


American Society on Aging (ASA)
A site for an umbrella organization focusing on professionals and organizations that serve older people. Includes information about conferences, training, publications, news, and special projects. The section on "constituent groups" offers information related to mental health, healthcare, religion and spirituality, gay and lesbian seniors, and business.


The Arthritis Society
Current, practical information about arthritis. Includes types of arthritis, pain management, exercise tips, programs and resources, research news, a database of questions and answers, and a dictionary. From "Canada's only not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing and promoting arthritis education, community support and research-based solutions."


Ask the Dietitian
In this site, Joanne Larsen M.S., R.D. registered dietitian, advises about topics related to diet and foods. As of February 19, 1996, the database contains 346 answers covering 61 topics such as Alcohol, Caffeine, Diabetes, Exercise, Junk Foods, and Vegetarian. We can look over the three screens of topics, and if we don't find what we want to know, then we can still write and ask questions to her through e-mail. If the question is appropriate, it will be answered and posted to a group.

Facts From EBRI (Employee Benefit Research Institute)
EBRI publishes online monthly reports covering Social Security, 401(k) retirement plans, Medicare, health insurance and the uninsured, domestic partner benefits, income of the elderly, and other retirement issues. The reports are archived back to 1996. EBRI is a "neutral authority promoting the understanding and furtherance of employee benefits national policy."

A high-quality, user-friendly site for health information. Allows keyword searching of its huge database of articles and reports in addition to organizing information into broad categories. See especially this population-specific
page. Also provides a useful directory for identifying medical professionals.
